Trouble on the Patio

It’s June and there are Christmas lights still hanging on the wooden fence that separates the parking lot from the patio, keeping the beer-swilling riff-raff legal in their choice to drink outside, “No alcohol beyond this point”.

They’re out now, the lights, not the riff-raff. And the bulbs are not the typical green and red, so probably okay to have up year’round. But as such, rebranded–no longer promoting their holiday spirit but an empty-church ambiance.

Still, it feels lazy to me, like the long, hot days of summer feel lazy. Where sitting around without much a drive to do anything, beer in hand, feels just about right.
